Monthly micro-grants available for Global Space Startups

My Startup World Staff August 12, 2024 Comments Closed 0 likes

The Center for Space Commerce and Finance (The Center) announces an open call for its expeditious working-capital initiative for space startups who have micro, urgent funding needs. The Space Micro-Grant Funding Initiative is funded by a stable of space professionals and philanthropists who collectively fund the monthly $1,000 ‘no equity, no repayment, no-strings-attached ‘micro-grants.

At onset there will be one grant awarded monthly although as the concept gains greater exposure, the interest and demand for small, expeditious funding grows, the amount and the quantity of grants each month are expected to expand.

Grant applications are accepted until the 20th of each month, starting in August and grant program donors will review submissions by the 25th to determine the best start-up to receive the monthly award. Funds are distributed by the last day of each month.

The belief is that $1,000 micro-grants will help fill a cash-flow need and enable space startups to continue their fundraising and business development efforts.”

According to The Center’s co-founder and board Chair, Thomas Olson, “It’s often the small expenditures that are most critical for a startup such as company registration, conference fees, travel; logo or website design, marketing materials, product packaging, postal fees for samples or demo items; or office equipment or supplies. Having funds for these things can be mission critical.”

According to Lisa La Bonté, CEO of The Space Education Company, the Middle East’s first space training company and founder of impact initiative Awesome Dubai, a micro-grant funding program that ran bi-annually 2013 to 2018, “Micro-philanthropy for the global emerging space community is long overdue and such funding will help sustain a start-up’s momentum and ultimately boost small space businesses with astronomical goals in a key growth industry.”

Space start-ups, space adjacent, and space scalable businesses can learn more or apply for a no-strings-attached $1,000 micro-grant at www.SpaceMicroFund.com.
