One of the standout features of SEF 2025 was its proactive support for startups and innovators through 250+ activities, including 45 workshops. SEF 2025 was a catalyst for meaningful partnerships, with the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), each positioned to have a lasting impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

On the opening day, Microsoft came together with Sheraa, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and the American University of Sharjah (AUS), to forge a partnership aimed at driving innovation and digital transformation. The MoU marks a significant step in leveraging Microsoft’s AI solutions to enhance decision-making capabilities and boost collaboration amongst the partnering entities.

During the pitch day, the 11 innovative startups presented their Proof of Concept (POC) solutions before a distinguished panel of judges. Turning cutting-edge ideas into impactful solutions
For the 6th edition of ASC, Sheraa collaborated with the Department of Agriculture and Livestock as this year’s challenge partner, and was endorsed by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), designing the challenge’s focus around two main themes, namely, AgriTech and Livestock Health. ASC 2024 has also enjoyed the support from key sponsors such as the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Real Estate, and Al Ghanim Holding.

Ahead of the pitch event, senior representatives from DAL led a comprehensive corporate innovation training program. This initiative allowed the shortlisted startups to participate in in-depth sessions with DAL, ensuring that their solutions were both suitable and adaptable to the organization’s needs.

The AgriTech track aims to address critical challenges such as water scarcity and sustainable agricultural practices, while the Livestock Health track focuses on innovative solutions to ensure livestock sustainability and enhance biosecurity systems. Together, these tracks represent Sheraa’s efforts to support sustainable solutions that combine agricultural innovation with technological advancement, in line with their recently established Center of Excellence for Sustainability.

The distinguished panel of judges responsible for selecting the winning startups brought together notable figures including Razan Al Hammadi, Director of Green Development; Jamal Al Suwaidi, Director of Digital Transformation; and Maryam Al Muaini, Head of the Livestock Section at DAL. Sheraa was proudly represented by their CEO, H.E. Sara Abdelaziz Al Nuaimi; Head of Strategy, Mishal Tassadaq; Head of Partnerships and Programs, Abeer AlAmeeri; and Advisor to CEO, Arwa AlGhamai.

The event also welcomed a number of influential entities that contribute to the success of the  entrepreneurial ecosystem within Sharjah, including the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, Emirates Development Bank (EDB), AlDhaid University, Sharjah Sustainable City (SSC), DU, University of Sharjah, and the US Consulate. Their presence underscored the broader community’s enthusiasm and shared vision for transforming innovative ideas into sustainable solutions.

The Pitch Day marks the exciting final stage of ASC 2024, setting the stage for the selected startups to begin implementation and make an immediate impact within the agricultural sector. By bringing startups from diverse backgrounds and providing them with the opportunity to pitch and prove their concepts, this initiative reaffirms Sheraa’s dedication to building a supportive ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs to drive change, create sustainable solutions, and contribute to the region’s economy and prosperity.

This incubator program serves as a comprehensive growth launchpad that recognizes the entrepreneurial journey as a carefully planned commitment.

S3 is structured around three core pillars, namely, Scaling, Securing, and Supporting. The program provides participants with expert mentorship and a customized roadmap, ensuring that they receive the right support to achieve product-market fit. Upon successful application, startup founders will gain access to Sheraa’s Centers of Excellence (COE) partners, facilitating connections with leading entities and authorities as well as potential customers while absorbing valuable industry insights that can truly make a difference to their chances for success.

The program also has a strong focus on securing funding — one of the most prominent challenges startups face — facilitating introductions to members of Sheraa’s investor network and offering expert guidance in pitch preparation and investor relations. S3’s collaborative environment has proven highly beneficial in past iterations giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals within Sheraa’s extensive entrepreneurial ecosystem, greatly enhancing their growth through shared experiences and resources.

Founders can engage directly with Sheraa’s experienced experts-in-residence (EIRs) and industry specialists, providing ongoing guidance and ensuring that startups remain aligned with their goals. Participants will also benefit from advisory credits that allow for personalized one-on-one sessions with over 30 subject matter experts across various domains, including strategy, operations, fundraising, and product management. This exclusive tailored support is fundamental in navigating the complexities of building a successful startup.

Throughout the six-month program, participants enjoy access to co-working spaces across three hubs in Sharjah, and also features a week-long in-person experience, promoting collaboration and networking. S3 startups also have the invaluable opportunity to showcase their solutions at the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF), partake in a founder’s retreat, and valuable exposure at partner roadshows. Additionally, startups benefit from one year of free company licensing in Sharjah and the opportunity to recruit talent from the emirate’s leading universities, ensuring they build strong, capable teams.

Application process
The application process for S3 is both straightforward and thorough and each application will be carefully reviewed by the Sheraa team. Interested founders should submit their applications via the Sheraa website, marking the first step in their journey. To qualify, startups must have a scalable business model driven by tech-enabled solutions, demonstrate early customer traction and revenue generation, and commit to operating and expanding within Sharjah and the UAE. Additionally, applicants must be operating within the priority sectors of Education Technology (EdTech), Sustainability, Manufacturing, or Creative Industries.

Those meeting these criteria will be invited to a 20-minute screening call to present their solution and prepare to answer any questions about their startup. Selected startups will then participate in a deep-dive session covering product, strategy, legal considerations, and financial planning. Following these evaluations, startups showing exceptional potential will be accepted into the program and begin onboarding, gaining access to S3’s extensive resources and support network.
