Of the ten weeks, the program runs a virtual program for the first six weeks to the Ignite and Launch Track founders. The Launch Track founders visit Abu Dhabi in the final four weeks, which include an all-expenses-paid, in-person program in Abu Dhabi in October.

Since 2020, Anjal Z has supported over 45 early and growth-stage startups and helped establish many Launch Track startups in Abu Dhabi. Over half of the 24 Launch Track startups have already established their offices in Abu Dhabi.

Engaged with 20+ local entities and established meaningful partnerships for the Launch Track startups to implement their pilots in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, each Launch Track startup can access up to USD 220,000 as an equity-free grant to establish their offering in Abu Dhabi and beyond.

The program runs Abu Dhabi Youth Challenge+ (ADYC+), a 54-hour bootcamp for those interested in exploring and pursuing entrepreneurship as a career option. To date, more than 30 internships have been offered to the youth.

For the upcoming Cohort 05, startups are invited to innovate within three additional thematic areas:

• Intentional Parenting: This is dedicated to empowering parents on their journey to nurture young children, supporting holistic development from birth through age eight. It emphasizes fostering positive parenting and caregiving behaviours, prioritizing children’s well-being in digital and physical environments.
• Culture and Identity: Focusing on the rich UAE heritage, this theme encourages children to appreciate and celebrate their cultural identity. It aims to strengthen social ties and enhance a sense of belonging, promoting Emirati values and identity globally.
• Sustainable and Family-Friendly Cities: This approach endeavours to reshape urban planning with a child-centred approach, supporting healthy development and social unity by integrating nature, technology, and sustainability into city living.

The Anjal Z program will run from August to November 2024. For the first six weeks, it will be offered virtually to the Ignite and Launch Track founders.

The final four weeks of the program will feature the all-expenses-paid, in-person program in Abu Dhabi in October. This opportunity is tailored for the established founders selected for the Launch Track to help them expand and refine their market strategies within Abu Dhabi and the broader Middle East.

Two Distinct Startup Tracks:

• Ignite Track: Ideal for early-stage founders, this track offers virtual masterclasses, mentorship, and pitch feedback for startups with monthly recurring revenue (MRR) under US$ 20,000, less than US $250,000 in funding, and a team size under five.
• Launch Track: Geared towards more established founders with an MRR over US $20,000, this track includes a comprehensive four-week program in Abu Dhabi. Participants will receive masterclasses and mentorship and engage in a localization project that doubles as a go-to-market strategy. Additionally, startups will benefit from non-equity funding of up to US $270,000 to aid their expansion efforts.

Now in its fifth cohort, the Anjal Z program offers non-equity funding and an extensive network of local partners, making it a unique accelerator in early childhood development. Participants can expect high-calibre Techstars Masterclasses & Mentorship, fostering substantial growth and market readiness.

Startups focusing on the four pillars of the ECA, health and nutrition, early care and education, child protection, and family support, and the three themed spaces are invited to apply and seize this chance for growth and influence. The program has the tools, resources, and backing needed to thrive, whether a startup is launching or ready to scale. The Anjal Z Founder Catalyst Program enables founders to immerse in an environment where innovation meets tradition, and startups can achieve global impact.

The Anjal Z program by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) is in its fourth running year and second year of partnership with Techstars. The program offers mentorship, localization and funding support to selected startups to promote innovation in early childhood development. It’s main aim is to empower global startups in the ECD space to localize their solutions to the UAE, and support local startups to address critical ECD challenges across Abu Dhabi and the UAE. The program will accept applications for two distinguishable program tracks: Ignite and Launch.

Ignite Track:
This track is for founders with an MRR of less than USD 20k (or similar traction), who have not raised more than USD 250k and have a team of less than 5 people. These founders will get access to our virtual world-class Masterclasses, Mentorship, Pitch Feedback sessions and so much more from leading industry-specific experts!

Launch Track:
This track is for seasoned founders with an existing customer base and traction that meet certain criteria such as having an MRR of more than USD 20k (or similar traction), have not raised more than USD 1m, and having a team of more than three people.

In addition to having access to Techstars’ world-class masterclasses, mentorship, pitch feedback sessions, the startups on the Launch Track will also be invited to take part in a four-week all-expenses paid expansion and localization program in Abu Dhabi, and have access to one of the Middle East’s largest economic hubs. These selected startups will also benefit from equity-free funding of up to USD 270,000 to support their localization efforts through a strategic partnership formed with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the front door to the Abu Dhabi ecosystem for investors. Finally, the Anjal Z program is supported by Hub71. Hub71 is Abu Dhabi’s global tech ecosystem that enables founders by providing access to global markets and network of partners, a capital ecosystem and a vibrant community filled with highly skilled talent.

This year’s program is launched in collaboration with Techstars – a renowned worldwide network that helps entrepreneurs succeed – with the aim to help startups develop innovative technology in Abu Dhabi to address challenges facing the next generation. The Anjal Z Founder Catalyst Program is one of the only startup programs in the world focused on solving challenges related to early childhood development through innovation.

Powered by the ECA and driven by its vision to promote the health, confidence, and values in a safe, family friendly Abu Dhabi, the program will empower early as well as growth-stage global startups to provide solutions that tackle critical challenges faced during early childhood development, from prenatal stages up to the age of eight. across a variety of sectors of concern, including Health & Nutrition, Child Protection, Family Support and especially Early Care & Education as part of a 10-week Founder Catalyst Program.

Up to 20 startups will benefit from impact-driven masterclasses and mentorship through an online program (16 January – 10 February 2023). Eight startups will be invited to take part in an all-expenses paid, in-person program (20 February – 16 March 2023) in Abu Dhabi.

Alumni members from previous cohorts made a presence at ECA’s booth at the mega event. Members present included FinlandWay, the school-in-a-box early education franchise network that leverages modern technology to transform education, MonkiBox, the subscription program that supports cognitive and motor development of babies with science backed toys and activities and RemmedVR, the telemedicine platform that uses virtual reality goggles and therapeutic exercises to correct strabismus (crossed eyes) and amblyopia (lazy eye). The stand also hosted Thinkerbell Labs, the minds behind the world’s first digital braille literacy device that helps the visually impaired to read, write and type in braille and WonderTree, the affordable physiotherapy and education game provider that uses augmented reality to help children of determination develop motor, cognitive and educational skills.
